Elimination diet
Temporary exclusion of foods with a high histamine content to determine the body's reactions and subsequent gradual inclusion.
An elimination diet is a key part of the diagnosis and management of histamine intolerance. It consists in the temporary complete exclusion of foods and drinks with a high content of histamine and histamine-releasing substances. After symptoms have subsided, foods are gradually and individually reintroduced to determine which specific components cause problems and in what amounts are tolerated.
