Histidine
An amino acid that is converted to histamine in the body. Its excess or poor processing can worsen HIT.
Histidine is an essential amino acid that is naturally present in the body and is a building block of proteins. In the context of histamine intolerance, histidine is key because it is the precursor (starting substance) for the formation of histamine. If the body receives an excessive amount of histidine from food, or if the enzymatic processes for its degradation are disturbed, the level of histamine in the body may increase, which will manifest itself in the symptoms of HIT.
